Sutter Arden Care Center
1651 Exposition Blvd., Sacramento, CA
A 70,000 SF care center for Sutter Health designed by Taylor Design and built by S+B James with 260 pieces of artwork. Grigio collaborated closely with the design team and leadership to develop an artwork package that met the goals of Sutter Health’s new brand guide, which included three large gallery wall installations and a two-story stairwell mural. Grigio used elevations to design layouts and filtered through hundreds of images from local and regional artists to curate visually balanced gallery wall compositions across three separate walls - the first floor is the largest, with a 27’ inset wall holding twelve pieces. The two story mural greets visitors at the entrance of the building - a native botanical design that feels light and uplifting, drawing your eye up to the second floor. Other key art moments include two commissioned paintings and a large commissioned cyanotype triptych. Corridors also feature local artists, and each exam room holds a piece of local landscape photography.
